Video Case Study: Real-Life Event Globalization | Welocalize x Dell

welocalize October 6, 2022

This video case study features Aki Hayashi, Senior Manager, Globalization Programs at Dell, and Viviana Bernabe, Director of Interpreting at Welocalize. They tell the story of Dell’s annual (and multilingual), global customer and partner conference. This was held in Las Vegas and involved 6,000+ in-person attendees and thousands of virtual attendees from locations all over the world including China, Japan, and Korea. They share insights on how to deliver a consistent language and cultural experience at global events.

Dell runs several large-scale events – in person and virtual – each year for staff, partners, and customers all over the world. One of the challenges is to provide a consistent language experience for all attendees and participants. From invites, web pages, on-site/remote interpreting, and subtitling through to signage and post-event surveys – each touchpoint must be understood by the whole global audience.

Key Takeaways

  • Focus on a consistent, end-to-end journey and language experience
  • Consider globalization at the early, planning stages
  • Advocate for your audience! Remember pre and post event material and provide on-site and online support
  • Build trust. Having a shared understanding of goals leads to a successful event!

Welocalize has ranked as one of the top language services providers in the world specialized in Interpreting and Conference Interpreting 2022 by CSA Research, an independent research and market intelligence organization in the language industry.
