CASE STUDY

Challenge
After successfully implementing ongoing American Sign Language (ASL) meeting support for a deaf employee, the client’s Center of Excellence launched an initiative to make its global workforce more inclusive of people with disabilities. As a result, it designated over three internship slots specifically for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing candidates.
Solution
Provide rotating team of in-person (Round Rock, TX) and remote ASL interpreters for training sessions and Intern presentations to Dell Executive team to ensure seamless, 2-way communication and inclusion in all intern activities.
Results
- One Deaf candidate was offered full-time employment after completing the program, contributing to a total of three Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing hires in the past year.
- Plans are underway to expand this model to at least three additional countries within the next three to five years.
- Ongoing ASL support continues for both the annual summer internship program and individual employees.
- The Dell Globalization Team—and, indirectly, Welocalize—received the Dell “Behaviors in Action” Diversity and Inclusion Award.
