welocalize acquires transware
Combination offers leading eLearning translation and Globalization Management System
Frederick, Maryland, USA – May 29, 2008 – Welocalize, Inc., a leading provider of integrated globalization services, announced today the acquisition of Transware, a leader in learning, marketing and technical localization. This acquisition now positions Welocalize as the leader in translation of learning content and the only mid-tier company with both a global platform and Globalization Management System.
Filling the Technology Gap
With Transware’s Ambassador product Welocalize is now one of a small number of Language Service Providers (LSPs) to offer a complete set of strategic and tactical globalization services, including translation and process automation software. Ambassador 7.0, a web-based enterprise-wide Globalization Management System (GMS), helps customers automate and manage the translation process, from ordering, workflow, review and approval of translation projects.
“Transware has made great strides in the innovative development and delivery of their GMS,” says Smith Yewell, CEO of Welocalize. “We are thrilled to have acquired such a solid platform and plan to make a significant investment to expand the capabilities of the technology. The Ambassador GMS tool adds a crucial piece to our strategic solution offerings for customers: an enterprise-class translation process automation tool coupled with our global platform.”
The language technology landscape has experienced tremendous reshuffling and redefinition over the last few years. After historic shifts or vacancies in the independent software vendor space, “the language technology market bounded ahead with innovation from new players,” according to a 2008 report from research firm Common Sense Advisory. The report goes on to say that especially in the aftermath of the SDL-Idiom merger, if anyone is “serious about creating a software business, this is the time to do so.”
A Global, Customer Experience
Transware serves customers in a broad range of industries to release e-learning and training content for global use. Their contributions to the e-learning sphere and exceptional customer service have won the respect of clients such as SkillSoft, Epic, Oracle University, Harvard Business School Publishing, Raytheon and John Deere. “The heart of our service and product delivery model has been a strong account management program” says Devin Lynch, President and CEO of Transware. “Welocalize’s track record has demonstrated this same level of commitment and customer focus. At the same time, Transware customers will now benefit from a 9-office, 5-country, global production platform for more scalable, client-centric and cost-efficient solutions.” Over the years, Welocalize has built a reputable e-learning and training practice ranging from localization of LMS technology to marketing content and multimedia training programs. “Our shared expertise in global learning content management will have a significant impact for enterprises disseminating business-critical learning content worldwide,” says Eugene McGinty, General Manager of Welocalize Ireland. “Enterprise-level customers will benefit from an additional production and management center in Ireland, a key market in our global Hybrid Delivery Model.” About Welocalize
