Free workshops to support deployment of open-source enterprise software
Frederick, Maryland USA – July 17, 2009 – Welocalize launches the first series of Technical Boot Camps for GlobalSight, the open-source Translation Management System (TMS). Over the last 6 months, the GlobalSight open-source community has grown to 1,200 members to include a user base dedicated to installing, testing and deploying the enterprise TMS. In this economic climate global organization are mapping out a migration plan away from proprietary TMS’ to a more flexible and sustainable open-source platform that can manage, translate and deliver global content for their next-generation needs.
To support these migration efforts, Welocalize is hosting two FREE GlobalSight Technical Boot Camps to be held in Dublin, Ireland on July 28-29 and Silicon Valley, USA on August 11-12. These workshops will provide hands-on training for engineers and system administrators to prepare for the launch and deployment of the open-source TMS customized to meet the demands of diverse business, workflow and technology models.
During the two-day workshops participants will work directly with a Welocalize engineer to go over their specific GlobalSight installation and implementation issues, such as configuration of workflows, profiles, translation memory and terminology. With specific attention on migrating language assets, Welocalize will help users set up and test basic workflows using their unique file types. At the end of the two-day session, participants will have gained a critical understanding of how to administer and configure their instance of GlobalSight.
“The pressure is on. More and more customers are getting ready to migrate from costly, proprietary software to a more cost-efficient and scalable open-source platform that addresses their needs for the future,” explains Gary Prioste, Vice President of Technology at Welocalize. “GlobalSight is that platform. We want to help organizations get up and running quickly, so they can meet their tighter deadlines and budgets and the increasing demand for translated content. By working directly with their engineers and soon-to-be administrators, we hope to lay the groundwork for them to accomplish this.”
GlobalSight is a collaborative, open source initiative to develop a flexible and sustainable Translation Management System (TMS) that leverages the best ideas and addresses the true needs of the industry. In this non-captive community, participants are free to discuss, discover and build upon a translation process automation tool that provides choice and flexibility—and can be shared by all.
