Frederick, MD USA – September 24th, 2012 TAUS, the translation innovation think tank and platform for shared industry services, has launched a common Translation Services API, to be adopted by the industry.
The TAUS Translation Services API specifications have been developed in consultation with TAUS members, such as AVB Translations, Google, Straker Translations, Translated.net, Trusted Translations and Welocalize.
Welocalize has sponsored the development of a Validation Service, hosted on the TAUS Labs site. The Validation Service can be used to check the compliance of any implementation. This ensures immediate transparency if there are any variances with implementations.
“We are fortunate to have the support of our members to bring a common API to fruition so quickly. So now there’s less chance of repeating tired old cycles of lockin. It’s easier for small players to adopt best practices and compete. Very pleasing!” says Rahzeb Choudhury, TAUS operations director.
“Welocalize has worked closely with TAUS for years now to drive open platforms and transparency within the industry,” says Derek Coffey, Welocalize, Vice President, Development & Technology. “This API is both a collaborative and progressive step towards greater interoperability.”
“Last year our Advisory Board and Members asked us to take a more active roll in the interoperability space. I am pleased that we begin implementing our watchdog program with this API. It fits perfectly with our vision and mission of providing open shared industry services as translation becomes a ubiquitous service”, says Jaap van der Meer, TAUS director.
