Eugene McGinty is the Chief Technology Officer at Welocalize and is responsible for defining our technology strategy. Eugene manages R&D and language technology and automation groups. Eugene is committed to a strategy of operational excellence at Welocalize and innovation that will enhance competitiveness and make Welocalize one of the easiest companies in the industry to do business with today and in the future. Eugene came to Welocalize through the acquisition of his own localization company Connect Global Solution in 2006.
From there he held a number of roles including VP of European Business Development, VP of European Operations moving to the role as COO in 2009. Prior to setting up his own company in 2008, Eugene held a number of senior positions with Prime Computer, IBM/Lotus and Apple’s application wing Claris. Eugene’s background is in technology having completed a B.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Ulster, Ireland.
His goal always, is to use technology as much as possible to streamline and automate inefficient processes. Eugene believes that localization companies need to become highly efficient tech’ enabled services companies to compete in the fast and furious on-demand translation business of the future. He is very excited about the future of Welocalize believing there’s enormous opportunity if they can successfully execute on the strategy of interoperability, connectivity and operational efficiency.
Eugene has a set of very diverse interests including agriculture, alternatives energies, engineering, technology, photography, music, sports of all kind with a special place in his heart for football the GAA kind (Gaelic Athletic Association). Eugene also likes spending time with his two teenage kids, “being a parent to two teenage kids being one of the more humbling experience in my life”.
