Welocalize localizes several types of courseware for this client including self-led tutorials, instructor-led courses and interactive learning programs. Since 2002, we’ve localized a total of 225 multimedia programs with over 1,100 videos and 4,800 hours of voice recording using 327 professional voice talents across 42 languages.

From the very beginning of the content lifecycle, Welocalize is tightly integrated into our client’s authoring and content development phase. Welocalize has created a customer facing seminar, Welocalize Globalization BootcampSM, to help train content creators on best-practices for creating courseware, documents and campaigns that will be localized for an international audience. With this expertise, Welocalize is able to directly impact the development of the courseware to improve efficiencies later in the localization cycle. To further enhance our ability to understand the localization needs of the client, Welocalize is one of the first language service providers to become a certified builder of their online training framework.

As part of their largest training initiative to date, Welocalize was asked to localize 100 high-visibility online courses consisting of instruction, student guides and virtual PC images in 16 weeks. To meet the schedule Welocalize engineered a tool to single-source the content that programmatically addressed areas of repetitive labor and created a common baseline to improve error detection and correction during the QA phase of the project. This innovation more than doubled the output (from 100 to 240 courses) within the original budget and timeline. The technology and process is still in use today and has achieved an overall productivity level of 300%.

Before our client rolls out an extensive training program to all their subsidiaries, they must receive and incorporate input from their in-country offices to validate the course materials as appropriate, relevant and well-targeted for each market. As more customization and back and forth is needed for the Japanese language version, we put our client’s Japanese subsidiary in direct contact with our Welocalize Japan team in Tokyo. With local support in their own language, the client’s Japanese counterpart works closely with our project management and translation group to achieve the desirable quality results.

To maintain a global presence and expand into emerging markets, our client faces spikes in demand to author and translate training materials and pressure to lower translation costs. To accommodate volume growth amidst budget restrictions, Welocalize is able to pair a traditional e-learning translation model with a Machine Translation (MT) component to deliver the same results with less money. To maintain high quality levels necessary for delicately crafted learning content, Welocalize utilizes certified translation partners that are trained in the art of post editing machine translated content.
