crowdsight & globalsight enhancements further streamline translation crowdsourcin
Frederick, Maryland, USA – January 21, 2010 –Welocalize releases an enhanced version of CrowdSight, the open-source translation crowdsourcing extension to GlobalSight, the open-source Translation Management System (TMS). Global organizations conducting business online must publish content on a daily or even hourly basis, in the native language of their end users. CrowdSight engages the right “crowd,” group or community to deliver quick-turn translation for high-profile, on-demand content without compromising quality. Recent enhancements to both CrowdSight and GlobalSight make managing crowdsourced translation even easier, and add new capabilities including translation quality rating by reviewers.
CrowdSight enables companies to expand their pool of available translators and reviewers beyond traditional sources to include volunteer communities, end users, internal stakeholders, etc. CrowdSight facilitates collaboration within a community by providing simple workflow options that incorporate the proper level of translation review and approvals. Users have the ability to translate entire files for large content releases or single strings for quick UI updates. CrowdSight utilizes GlobalSight’s translation memory (TM) management and filtering capabilities, enabling crowdsourced translation of content from a wide variety of file types, leveraging the most appropriate set of enterprise translation memories.
Translators and reviewers from the community work online in a simple browser-based environment, with easy access to TM and reference materials such as screenshots or URLs that provide additional context or guidelines.
“The open source movement in our industry has truly taken off,” says Gary Prioste, Vice President of Technology Services at Welocalize. “Organizations are looking for an innovative, flexible and sustainable technology model to support their translation needs, whether it is traditional translation-editing-proofreading, machine translation or crowdsourcing. At the same time, they are looking for easy-to-use applications that can connect to a back-end system with robust features and functionality. GlobalSight is the central hub and CrowdSight is the first spoke in an open source application exchange program for our industry.”
For more information Welocalize will host a CrowdSight demo on Thursday, February 25th. The free webinar will include a demonstration of crowdsourced translation using CrowdSight.
GlobalSight is a collaborative, open source initiative to develop a flexible and sustainable Translation Management System (TMS) that leverages the best ideas and addresses the true needs of the industry. In this non-captive community, participants are free to discuss, discover and build upon a translation process automation tool that provides choice and flexibility—and can be shared by all.
